The approach of February 1st, the date Penny passed away, is a heavy time for me, and I know I’m not alone in feeling this way.
Lately, during my “Misery Sticks” outings, I’ve felt Penny’s presence, reminding me not to dwell on the sadness, but to keep her spirit alive.
That’s why I’m organizing a “Penny Powers Inspirational Day.”

This isn’t about forgetting our grief, but about finding strength and healing together. It’s a chance to share our memories of Penny, support each other, and celebrate the impact she had on our lives.
Penny’s Memorial Day: A Celebration of Her Spirit
This day is designed to honor Penny by recreating a typical day she enjoyed during this time of year. Please feel free to participate in as many or as few activities as you’d like.
Early Morning: Embracing the Outdoors with an “Early morning Quickie”
- 7:00 AM: Nordic Ski “Quickie” at Greywolf Nordic Center: We’ll meet at the Greywolf Nordic Center for “Quick” ski to the Hale Hut and potentially add the No Name Trail, Sidewinder, and/or Moose Meadows trail.
Mid-Morning: Soaring High
- Breakfast: Meet at Lusti or our place for coffee and breakfast (8:30 am) to get ready for the first chair.
- Paragliding: Starting with morning flights with the hope other pilots would be up there as well.
Lunch: Lunch and Downhill skiing
- Downhill ski from the Summit: Around noon meet at the Summit hut for a quick lunch and ski down the 1000 Peaks to Founders Ridge.
- Downhill ski to the Elkhorn Cabin: After the summit run, take the chairs up to the Elkhorn cabin for a drink and then skiing down for the next activity
Afternoon: Nordic Ski and drinks
- Nordic Ski at the Greywolf Nordic Center: Start at 3:00 pm at the Greywolf Nordic Center.
- Drinks and snacks: Drinks and snacks at the Snack Shack at 4:30 or 5:00 pm
Evening: Hot tub and T-bar
- Hot tub at the Panorama Pools: After a snack and a couple drinks we head over to the Panorama Pools for a hot tub.
- More socializing at the T-bar: Penny loved to socialize after an active day. If there is still enough energy left, we can party at the t-bar until you are really tired.
The Flying Realtor with a great “Altitude” is now flying with the RE/MAX Balloon.
Looking forward to more “Airtime”

Here is an update of the students who started with P1 lessons last November… They are now well into their P2 supervised flights at Panorama Mountain Resort !
If there is not too much snow in the valley, I might start another course in the 2nd week of February and do the P2 flights in Feb/March/April at Panorama Mountain Resort
